(Iserlohn, 03/10/09) The Rubicon Contest 2009, an international contest for business students, successfully started on Monday. The eleven collegiate organisers are supported by 18 students helping as volunteers in several functions. Together they will host the three day event for 80 students from 26 nations on Campus Seilersee at the private state-approved university Business and Information Technology School (BiTS) Iserlohn, Germany, on the topic of Green Business Management.

On Monday the Rubicon Contest 2009 commenced with speeches and a jovial get-together for the participants. They took the opportunity to establish contacts, before the first round will start. They have to show to face a business computer simulation and competing against other teams.

Without the voluntary commitment of their fellow students it would be impossible for the students of the organisation team to hold the contest. The volunteers drive cars, provided by Autohaus Iserlohn, to pick the participants up at the airport. In communications they are helping to write press releases or to take pictures. The most volunteers are in the team support: The will help to carry out the support program of the event.

“It is interesting”, tells the Business Psychology student Jessica Rode from Iserlohn: “You really get in touch with different cultures and is quickly getting in contact with interesting people.” The language is no problem at Rubicon. “We all use English. If you do not know a specific word, you will find another explanation or you have to show some acting abilities”, says student Katharina Pawlas with a smile.

Rubicon Contest 2009 is autonomously organized by students of the Business and Information Technology School (BiTS), focusing on business students from all over the world. From March 9th till 11th the event is hosted with 80 participants from 26 nations on “Campus Seilersee” in Iserlohn for the third time. This year's topic is “Green Business Management”. Participants are going to compete in a computer simulation, as well as case studies and business plans.
