Youth Hostel "Jugendherberge Sorpesee"braas

The organizational team of the Rubicon Contest 2011 tried to create a second home for their international guests. But finding the right place was not as easy as it seemed. How many rooms are needed? How do the participants get there? What spare time activities are available? All those questions had to be answered to decide where all 24 teams will reside during the three-day event. The answer to these questions was challenging and suspenseful at the same time. The hostel
“Jugendherberge Sorpesee” offered the ideal conditions.

To make sure everything is just perfect for our participants; we checked out the hostel yesterday and made a little movie – soon to follow – to give you an impression of what’s awaiting you in Iserlohn.

We had a lot of fun figuring out what possibilities there are for you to do once you arrived in Germany. Furthermore, the participants are spoiled for choice, whether they move on the water, discover the area on foot or go around the lake by bicycle and inline skates. They accommodate six recreation rooms with different capacities for the guests. The lobby offers space for approximately 150 people and suits especially for big events. Hifi-equipment, a piano and a fireplace is also available. If you need a place to relax feel free to use the small library.
The modern hostel with its magnificent view of the Sorpesee, a huge lake, is the perfect location for our 96 international participants. Situated in a nature reserve it offers plenty of fresh air, nature to touch and enough place to escape from the stress of the contest.
The partial home offers 40 dorms which include 166 beds. The majority of the rooms have two to six bunks as well as own bathrooms with a shower and a restroom. The host Catherine Küpper is experienced in accompanying international guests from all over the world such as Israeli or African groups.
