And another year older – some thoughts

Nobody is exempt of the always ticking biological clock. Like every other year, I tried to ignore the penetrating noise, and drown it in work. But I didn’t stand a chance. It just keeps running towards its inevitable goal: My birthday.

Twenty-four years old. I’m just hoping to look as good with grey hair, as George Clooney does, because some of my friends claim to see some on my head. I do not share this observation.

I am working hard on staying young and agile – not that being 24 means that you are an old man.
Hence I didn’t miss the chance of screaming a joyful “Kölle Alaaf!” at this year’s carnival in Cologne. Even though there was work to do in the office, I decided to take a day off, and celebrate this wonderful holiday with all those happy people in the streets. But time is flying and the days seem to be getting shorter. Sadly, this is the way it goes from here. The countdown until Rubicon Contest is as inevitable as my biological clock and there are only very few days left.

But I’m keeping my head up. I don’t even have time for luxury like a midlife crisis right now; stuff like this has to wait another few months.
On the other hand, maybe I’m like a good wine. Ageing just makes me better. And if anyone ever catches me looking for a grey hair, the next drink is on me.
