Balance through soccer

Whose home town is in the Ruhr Area, like mine, has to decide for which football club he is going for. In some cities you do not really get to chose, it is laid out for you to support the local team when it is about to play. I live in a town, where you can have a choice and a great varieties of teams – Unna, a city with a population of 67,000 close to Dortmund at the eastern end of the Ruhr Area. Most of the inhabitants support, like me, Borussia Dortmund, some Schalke S04 from Gelsenkirchen or the VfL Bochum. I am not so passionate about football to say it is everything in my life, but I like to play it. Even more important: I have fun.

Considering the long office hours organising Rubicon it is hard to get a balance doing sports. At first I thought it is a joke playing football in the evening in our gymnasium on campus. As I was telling the rest of the organisation team, that Ilka and I, will go to leisurely work out and improve my dribble technique, they still thought it was a joke and had a good laugh. But a little bit later they also took a break and came from the office to have a look if we really play. We did, and they staggered. One ball after another went into the goal.

One of the nosy team members could not resist, stayed, and started playing with us. It is definitely a nice balance towards the sitting in the office and ideas for the support program are created while playing. What about a nice game of football together with all the participants of the Rubicon Contest 2009. Next morning I will take care for it, so we will have a nice football match. Let's hope, that I it will not be men who like to play with us. Ilka should not be the only girl on the field, just like in today's selection of the “Rubicon Allstars”. And I will not bother her for going for another team, Germany is winner of the last football world cup, the women's world cup.
