Last Saturday, six members of the Rubicon organizational team, Nelli, Malte, Philipp, Tobias, Florian and I, were testing the OPEX business simulation. We spent about twelve hours here at BiTS University to make sure that everything works fine – and it definitely does, even though it is quite tough.

Obviously, OPEX is quite complex – I can only recommend to make sure you read the handbook (we will provide it in the next few days). There are a lot of figures you can change and choose. Therefore, there are a lot of issues to think of to be really successful in the market and towards your competitors.

After getting to know a lot about how OPEX works, we started a first simulation. Three companies with two players each. I was in one team with Florian and we managed to take the lead, but only in terms of needing debts. The other teams were also struggling in the first round. But I have to confess that we all did not calculate seriously – our main intention was to see if everything works. We only wanted to get used to the system and to learn how we have to put our numbers into the system. Still, we definitely had a lot of fun during OPEX and also you will like it as well.

We can proudly say that OPEX was the perfect choice for this year’s Rubicon Contest and we are looking forward to playing OPEX in March! And please do not the same mistakes we did, I think I gave you at least one clue here.
